Workshop Results
Last week we did our workshop with our focus group and got a lot of great feedback. We got most of the focus group to participate, with a representation of all the player personas we had defined.
The ideas that we thought were the best were the following:

The ideas that we thought were the best were the following:
General Features:
- A tournament mode, where you could join as a single player and fight with other characters, all of them different, to prove your course is the best, since every character represents a course, or join as a team of 4, where every character is a course from your university, to prove your university is the best.
- A photo mode akin to SSB’s photo mode where you can pause the game and take a screenshot of the action and save it in a gallery within the game. You could also upload these screenshots to your social media if you wanted.
- A challenge mode, where you have different objectives to reach with a limit imposed on you, like a time trial or you can only use a certain move to beat your opponent. These challenges would have the same objective as the training mode we are already thinking to implement, to get the player better than the game, but would add a more interactive component. The challenges would have a ramping difficulty, getting harder as you’d progress.
- Skins with university logos, to customize the characters for players from different colleges.
- Online matchmaking tool, integrated with your social network, so you could see if they were from a college and which one it was.
Game Mechanics:
- The jump mechanics are iffy, the characters drop too soon, should be fine tuned into a more natural jump. Also, some asked to implement a double jump but we are still considering it.
- Crouching should be available as a movement option, to dodge attacks and to have a new attack option if you choose to attack when crouched.
- The platforms of the level shouldn’t have collision when you jump from below, to allow players to up to them from any angle.
- Have puzzle oriented sections in the single player mode, for example, a level where you had to go through a maze-like level trying to find your classroom with a time limit, and you had very limited clues as to where is your destination.
- The characters have too much momentum when we stop the movement, taking too long for them to stop. Reduce it or remove it altogether.
- Have in-game cheats in the single-player mode (you could also choose to enable or disable them in competitive mode) that make you more powerful, give you more lives, give you exaggerated proportions, like a Big Head Mode, etc.
